Winter is the time where we put away our good road bikes and take out our rain bikes. We slog and splash through rainy weather, shuddering when we look at our trainers. We train in our garage alone while dreaming of sunny days and friends to ride with.

I can’t do anything about the weather but I do have a solution for those lonely trainer hours or even for those of you who give up during the winter and focus on other sports. Starting in December 2005, the Les Is More Indoor Training Program comes to North Bend at the Si View Pool facility.

Previously held in Redmond and Mercer Island (and Texas before then), Winter Fit programs will now be held at the Mi Si Pool facility in North Bend.

What is Winter Fit?

This structured workout program uses periodization principles: Build and Recovery cycles in four week blocks (Hard, Harder, Hardest, and Recovery.)  Workouts last about 1-1/2 hours – a little less on the easier days and a little more on the hardest days.

The workouts consists of intervals focused on different aspects of an overall training program – Lactic Acid workouts, Anaerobic Threshold workouts, and VO2 Workouts so that you can develop your anaerobic power, increase your ability to tolerate pain associated with high levels of lactic acid, and increase leg speed and pedaling action.
